MEET THE FOUNDER

KELLY DEMELIO

The p(art) Project began as a quiet question about my relationship to dance.

I grew up in the competitive dance world, where comparison and perfection shaped how I understood my value as an artist. Over time, that way of moving began to feel disconnected from who I was becoming. As my training moved beyond competition, I discovered that movement without intention is incomplete and that dance is not something we own, but something we share.

I learned that real growth requires time, space, and patience. It happens when artists are allowed to listen inward and move honestly, without urgency or comparison. When I couldn’t find a space that held those values within my community, I felt called to create one.

The first p(art) Project took shape in 2023, but the intention behind it had been forming long before that. p(art) exists to return space, trust, and presence to the dancer’s journey and to honor dance as a shared, human practice rooted in honesty and care.

The p(art) Project is the echo of my soul. The culmination of things I have gained, learned and experienced over the years has led me to creating a space such as this. An outlet to share my convictions with dancers who seek to deepen their understanding of intention through contemporary movement. This is an experience meant for the deep hearted, the eager and open minded. There is so much value in instilling dancers with the necessary tools to discovering their most authentic selves through physical expression. I have so much to share through p(art) and I am continuing to seek ways to evolve, grow and pour into the generations of dancers below me. This is the bigger picture of the dance community.

This is p(art).
